We arrived in Rennes at about 1:45, after a pleasant, but bizarre train ride. After the conducter made an announcement that he wanted us all to maintain a zen attitude he then urged us all to attend a concert in the bar car by Blackfoot Revolution. Sadly, we did not make it to the bar car to hear the band. Someday, when Blackfoot Revolution hits it big, we will be sorry.
It appears that French hotels are very exact about their 2:00 pm check-in times, so we had to store our luggage and head out for awhile, even though we were only 15 minutes early. It was a bit rainy, but not too cold, so we set out to find the tourist office to get a map. By the time we found the tourist office, about an hour later, we had pretty much covered the whole town. Rennes isn’t known for anything in particular – it doesn’t have a cathedral or famous museums, but it was a pretty town and we enjoyed strolling around. We did manage to get really lost, even with map in hand, and I startled a couple of bank tellers and a postal worker by wandering into their establishments and asking directions to the train station. Once we found our way back to the hotel, we had a delicious dinner at the creperie across the street and called it a night.
