After our trek to Dijon we took it easy in the morning and after lunch we were ready for another adventure. We set out to take what looked to be an easy walk along the Canal St. Martin, a new area for us. We took along our trusty (actually, not to be trusted) map and our book of Paris walks, prepared for a picturesque stroll.
Unfortunately, I have no map reading skills, and Dave’s skills seem to come and go, so emerging from the metro we set off (in the freezing cold) in exactly the wrong direction. As we trudged along in snow flurries the scenery went from unremarkable to downright ugly. A bit slow on the uptake, we began to catch on that we were heading in the wrong direction and retraced our steps back to the metro station to start over. Almost immediately the surroundings changed and we had a lovely, although very cold and long, walk all the way back to our neighborhood.
We returned to the apartment too tired and cold to venture out again for dinner, so we finished our frozen fish fillets from Picard, a frozen food franchise found all over Paris. You have to hand it to the French - even their frozen food tastes great.
